Аноним asked: I have an odd question..But why do most Russian fans seem to prefer Spock to Kirk? Is it because most men in Russia possess the negative Kirk traits and they are attracted to the stability and meekness os Spock's character?
It is a very interesting question, I thought about it too!
In my opinion, the Russian fans are more like Spock, because Kirk is too American guy. He is open, sociable, cheerful. All these qualities are not immediately obvious that Kirk is clever and kind. In Russian culture authors have focused on the characters - introverts, immersed in themselves and a lot of thinking, they
do not show emotion to strangers.
Spock is very similar to lyrical character from the Russian classical literature. I think it’s what makes Spock so popular among Russian fans of Star Trek.
